Recently Sweden's first electronic roads opened, allowing their novel EroadArlanda trucks to transport mail in trucks that are powered directly from the road.
Forbes reports that Sweden aims to have a 'Fossil Free' transportation system in place by 2030.
“The end goal of eRoadArlanda – and other projects that the STA is working on – is that the Swedish government wants to move away from gasoline and diesel and have a fossil fuel-free transportation system in pace by 2030. For now, eRoadArlanda is meant to "generate knowledge, experience and decision data that is conducive to the creation of a platform for the electrification of larger transport routes in Sweden," according to the project's website.”
An ambitious, but possibly life changing development.
