Why Swedes are allowed so long summer vacations
Lucky us. 😃
Best regards, Niklas 🎈
Good video. Have you experienced a lot of closed restaurants during summer, as they say in the video? I have not.
I have, actually. Some of my favorite restaurants in Stockholm close, or switch to a much smaller menu during summer.

Wow! It can be such a struggle even trying to request one full week off work during the holidays here in the UK!

#3: How much paid leave are you lawfully allowed to get in the UK in a year?
Best regards, Niklas 🎈
#4 I believe it is 28 days? Maybe Leia knows more than I do though!
Also what does it mean in that employers can determine when workers have time off? What if you wanted a different time off?
#5: Usually you can ask for a period, but if too many employees want time off the same period, the employer gets to decide who gets it. Since you have a legal right to X consecutive weeks during an Y month period, you always get a long summer vacation, if you want to, but perhaps not the exact weeks you want. This seldom is a big problem in my experience.

#4 If you are working full-time hours (35 hours per week) you are entitled to 28 days paid leave a year. However, these may include national holidays (Christmas and bank holidays) and there is no stipulation which means you can take them off all at once.
Although, unlike Sweden, you have these rights from the day of employment rather than waiting a year.

#7: Okay. The five hours shorter work weeks (in Sweden, 40 hours still is the regular work week) adds up to 7 weeks a year based on 50-week years. It seems to me your terms are quite good.
Best regards, Niklas 🎈
#7 Ah I see, thank you for the information! I wasn't too sure.
#8 wow it does when you put it like that!
