Sweden world cashless payments champion

Image 1. Click to open in original size.

In 2016 Swedes made more cashless payments per person than in any other country.

"This is the result of a trend which we've seen for a long time in Sweden. We Swedes are tech savvy and today we can buy more or less anything using card or a phone. What's more, we have a central bank that talks about e-currency,"

I'm not too sure about a cardless society. On one hand it would be very convenient, but at the same time I feel it is much easier to be responsible with physical money.

#1: That is very true. There is research that shows that even in-store ads for credit cards makes people spend more. Cash is what you should use if you want to spend less. Robert B. Cialdini wrote a book called Influence. It describes this and many other interesting examples of how we are manipulated to do what companies want us to do.

#2 Very true. I always prefer to use cash, even for regular food shopping.
