How doing a PhD in Sweden is better than elsewhere

The Local has an article describing the benefits of doing your PhD in Sweden instead of another country.

”Most of the differences revolve around the simple fact that in Sweden, a PhD is a job. This means that while you can keep your student status (important for discounts on the metro!), you are also an employee, and that comes with a wide range of benefits. You will have holiday days, sick pay and a pension. Your funding is a taxable monthly salary, around twice as much as you can normally get at UK universities. It gives you room to breathe, to live well.”

Considering that I'm currently unsure as to what to do after university, this has given me a lot to think about, haha.

I am definitely considering a PhD here in Sweden but I’m waiting to see if I even get into a Master’s program first 😂. It seems as though most PhD positions here are really competitive
