#2: You just revealed that you didn't click through to watch the video. ;-) He balanced for 20 seconds, but to set the record you have to do it for at least 10 seconds. It looked like if it had fallen it would have taken at least ten seconds for it to hit the ground. 22 meter is a long rod.
In my defence, I thought the video was just about Chinese cotton candy competition but that is impressive!
